How Much Does Mobile Physiotherapy Cost in Sydney?
Many aged care clients pay nothing out of pocket. Here is a complete guide to mobile physiotherapy pricing and funding options in 2026.
Many Patients Pay Nothing Out of Pocket
The cost of mobile physiotherapy in Sydney is one of the most common questions we hear from older Australians and their families. The good news is that if you are receiving government-funded aged care, there is a strong chance your mobile physiotherapy is already covered at no cost to you. The majority of our aged care clients access physiotherapy through a government funding program and pay nothing out of pocket for their sessions.
Under the Support at Home program - which replaced Home Care Packages from 1 November 2025 - physiotherapy falls under the Clinical Care category. Clinical Care services have no client contribution. The government covers the full cost for eligible participants, regardless of income or assets. If you already have a Support at Home package, physiotherapy can be added to your care plan at no charge. For a detailed guide on how this works, see our article on using your Home Care Package for physiotherapy.
Veterans with a Gold or White card through the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) can also access mobile physiotherapy at home with no out-of-pocket cost for eligible conditions. A GP referral using the D904 form is required.
If you have a chronic health condition, your GP may refer you for up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management plan (also known as a GPMP/TCA or GPCCMP). These sessions can be bulk-billed, meaning no gap payment for you.
The Restorative Care Pathway provides up to 16 weeks of intensive rehabilitation for older Australians recovering from illness, injury or a period of decline. Clinical services including physiotherapy are fully funded with no client contribution for eligible participants.
To see a full breakdown of every funding pathway available, visit our funding and payment options page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is mobile physiotherapy more expensive than clinic physiotherapy?
Mobile physiotherapy rates are generally comparable to clinic-based physiotherapy in Sydney. The advantage is that you receive treatment in your own home with no travel costs, no parking fees, and no time spent in waiting rooms. For many aged care clients, mobile physiotherapy is fully covered through government funding programs.
Do I have to pay anything if I have a Support at Home package?
No. Physiotherapy falls under the Clinical Care category in the Support at Home program, which has no client contribution. The government covers the full cost for eligible participants.
Can I claim mobile physiotherapy on private health insurance?
Many private health insurance policies include physiotherapy under their extras cover. The amount you can claim depends on your fund, your level of cover, and any annual limits. We provide detailed receipts that you can submit to your fund for reimbursement.
